31 Epitome: A Poem for Mertyse
By Carrie Elliott
She feared the Lord in all His glory, seeking His eternal grace;
Ever faithful and believing, she persevered and ran her race.
Though she carried her Cross, she gave us counsel; speaking life in every word;
Still she always paid heed to God’s gentle voice – when He called her home she heard.
She smiled the sun’s rays upon each of us, graciously embracing all of life’s best.
Her soul-warming hugs said “you’re in my heart”, all who knew her can attest.
Her precious children rightly adored her, for she shared with them God’s love;
What she wanted to give them while on this earth, she pours forth from heaven above.
Her hands were never idle, starting businesses – making plans;
She spoke with an eternal wisdom, holding to the Master’s hand.
A passionate dreamer who saw no limits, what her mind conceived she did;
CEO of Inner Beauty Productions, modeling and etiquette she taught the kids.
Royal garments of strength and dignity she wore – beautiful from the inside out;
No matter the mountain, head toward the sky, never giving in to fear or doubt.
She encouraged us to see our own beauty, loving instructions rolled off her tongue;
While majestically and faithfully to the Father she climbed; rung by heavenly rung.
Now our angel is free of pain and suffering, homeward bound on the wings of a dove;
Her spirit will brightly shine forever, because she filled this world with love.
Today as we gather to celebrate Mertyse and reflect on her legacy;
She was a woman of righteousness; worth her weight in gold;
Our own Proverbs 31 Epitome.
